This article explains why your iPhone may ring at a lower volume than expected when receiving Aircall calls and how to resolve the issue.

Symptom

When using Aircall on your iPhone, either through the Aircall app or via inbound call forwarding, you may notice the following:

  • The phone rings, but the volume suddenly drops.
  • The ringtone does not sound as loud as expected for some or all calls.

This can occur even when:

  • Do Not Disturb or Focus mode is disabled.
  • The ringtone volume is set to the maximum level.

Cause

This behavior can be caused by Attention Aware Features, which are available on iPhone X and later models.

When enabled, this feature automatically lowers notification and ringtone volumes if your iPhone detects that you are looking at the screen.

Solution

Disable Attention Aware Features on your iPhone.

Steps

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Face ID & Passcode.
  3. Toggle Attention Aware Features off.
Note: Disabling Attention Aware Features prevents iOS from automatically reducing ringtone and notification volumes when your device detects your attention.

Once disabled, your iPhone should ring at a consistent volume for all Aircall calls.
