The Network diagnostics settings in Aircall Workspace allow you to optimize your call experience by running network diagnostics, configuring roaming preferences, and adjusting audio quality based on your network and device performance.
Run network diagnostics
The Aircall Network Diagnostics tool helps you assess your internet connection, which is crucial for maintaining strong and reliable call quality.
Steps:
- Open the Aircall Workspace and click on the User icon located in the bottom-left corner.
- Go to Settings > Network Diagnostics.
Select Run diagnostics.
Wait while Aircall runs several tests simulating voice call conditions and analyzing data throughput.
The test results display multiple values that indicate your network performance.
Green values are within the ideal range for voice calls.
Yellow or red values may point to potential network concerns.

Define roaming settings
The Roaming feature automatically connects your calls to the nearest server to improve audio quality. Depending on your setup, you can let Aircall manage this dynamically or manually select a server.
Roaming options

Dynamic roaming (default):
Automatically connects to the closest Media Server based on your location.
Ideal for most users, as it minimizes latency by routing calls to the optimal server.

Custom selected roaming:
Allows you to manually choose a specific server location (for example, Australia or Ireland) from a dropdown list.
Useful when using VPNs that could affect automatic server selection.
Note: Selecting a specific server overrides your geographical IP and connects to the chosen country’s server.

Important: Roaming is determined by your IP location, not by the phone number you are calling or receiving calls from.
Define audio quality (bitrate)
You can adjust your audio quality preference to balance clarity and stability based on your network conditions and device performance. Aircall uses the Opus codec at 32 Kbps by default for optimal clarity.
Bitrate options

| Medium | 24 Kbps | Balanced performance with lower bandwidth use. Ideal for moderate network speeds. |
| Low | 16 Kbps | Best for slower or less stable networks. Although labeled "low," this still exceeds traditional G.711 call quality at 64 Kbps. |
If call quality issues occur, lowering the bitrate (for example, from High to Medium or Low) can improve stability without significantly affecting perceived quality.
Because Aircall transcodes most calls to traditional phones using the G.711 codec, reducing the bitrate primarily decreases network strain, helping maintain consistent performance.

Note: Higher audio rates may negatively affect call quality on unstable networks. Use Medium or Low settings on slower connections for better stability.
