The WhatsApp in Aircall channel connects your Aircall numbers to WhatsApp for seamless messaging alongside customer calls and SMS. It opens a new digital channel in Aircall that allows you to communicate in real time with customers.
With WhatsApp in Aircall, you can:

- Image: jpeg, jpg, or png — up to 5 MB
- Document: xlsx, docx, doc, pptx, or pdf — up to 16,000 KB (≈16 MB)
- Audio: aac, amr, mpeg, or ogg — up to 16 MB
- Video: mp4 or 3gpp — up to 16 MB
- Create pre-approved, branded templates for consistent, compliant communication
- Automatically log interactions in popular CRMs and helpdesk tools for a unified customer view
- Use Aircall Analytics to track WhatsApp usage and optimize your messaging strategy

Know before you start
Important: Activating WhatsApp in Aircall for a number that was previously connected to WhatsApp will remove access to that number’s prior WhatsApp message history.
- WhatsApp Business Platform: WhatsApp in Aircall uses the WhatsApp Business Platform (API), not the free WhatsApp Business App or personal WhatsApp accounts.
- Meta Business Account: You must have a verified Meta business portfolio before completing setup steps in Aircall.
- Templates for initiating: To start a new conversation, Meta requires using a pre-approved message template.
- Pricing: The WhatsApp in Aircall channel is an add-on with license and usage fees. Usage fees are based on Meta’s pricing, particularly for outbound template messages. Inbound messages and messages sent within the 24-hour customer service window are free.
- External numbers: You can connect external numbers to Aircall for use with WhatsApp. This option is available in all geographies, and all numbers are eligible for integration.
- Unsupported features: Group messaging, bulk campaigns or broadcasts, personal WhatsApp use, and migration of prior WhatsApp message history into Aircall are not currently supported.
Setup process
Steps:
- Ensure your Meta Business Portfolio is verified.
- Purchase the Aircall add-on and assign licenses to the appropriate users.
- Connect your desired Aircall numbers (including external numbers) to Meta via the embedded flow in the Aircall Dashboard.
- Create and submit outbound message templates for Meta approval.
- Once approved, start sending and receiving WhatsApp messages directly from Aircall.

Important: Keep track of the status information that Meta provides from your Aircall Dashboard, including rate limits and the quality rating of your phone number. A drop in your quality rating can occur if recipients frequently report or block your messages, which may impact your ability to send messages effectively.
