When using the Aircall mobile app for calling, your calls rely on on either your WiFi or mobile data connection. In cases where you are experiencing issues with call quality due to WiFi or data coverage, users can make use of the Switch to Carrier network option for a more stable connection.
With the Switch to Carrier network feature, users can transfer their calls directly to their mobile device, making use of their mobile carrier's service directly, rather than depending on WiFi or data connections.
How to enable the Switch to Carrier network feature
To enable the feature, navigate to your settings through the following path: Settings > Preferences > Calling > Link your Carrier Network:
Enter the phone number for the mobile device you are using the Aircall Mobile app on, then click Save.
How to use the Switch to Carrier network feature
When a user would like to switch to their carrier network while on a call, they will start by clicking Transfer, then selecting Switch to Carrier Network:
Important Tips
When using the Switch to Carrier network feature, calls connected to your carrier network will be treated the same as calls transferred to an external number, meaning:
- Advanced Aircall features will be unavailable after transferring
- Calls will be treated as outbound calls, even if they were initially inbound (see more information here)
- This additionally means that you may be charged for outbound minutes with Aircall, or international calling with your mobile provider, depending on your plans and what numbers you are connecting to
When viewing the call in the Call History section of the Aircall application, the transfer will not be shown like it would for a traditional transfer.
