Once you have downloaded and installed our Android app, the next step is to make sure that your settings are properly set up to use Aircall.
Allow Aircall settings
Microphone, Notification, Phone, and Run in background permissions are required to enable the app, while Contacts and Concurrent call permissions are optional.
Permissions - Microphone
Aircall requires access to your microphone. You will be need to make sure that it is allowed for 'Aircall to record audio.'
⚠️ Please Note: In Aircall, you can choose to activate or deactivate the call recording feature on each of your lines, but it’s important to allow your phone to activate this feature before you decide to enable or disable it on each of your lines.
Permissions - Notifications
Once notification permissions are enabled (mandatory for Android 13 or higher) and you launch the app for the first time, you will see something known as “persistent notification." This is common for other Android apps, such as WhatsApp (when you are connected from Desktop).
When there are too many apps open on your mobile device, your system closes apps for various reasons (to save battery, optimize memory, etc.) which can prevent the app from ringing or cause delays.
In order to prevent that, we run a service to keep communication alive between your device and Aircall. This service will improve your use of Aircall. We will also display a user’s availability status as a valuable shortcut to open the app to quickly change it.
Permissions - Phone
The Phone permission is necessary for making and receiving calls in the Aircall app if you are on Android 12 or higher.
Permissions - Run in background
Aircall requires access to run in the background. This will allow you to stay connected and receive calls and notifications even when you’re not in the app.
Permissions - Contacts
Allowing contact permissions makes it easier to interact with the contacts stored on your Android device. It allows you to display the contact list from your personal device directly inside the Aircall app, and call your local device contacts using Aircall.
Please note: Local device contacts are not shared with your teammates.
⚠️ This is optional, and you can decide to allow permissions later after setting up your app.
Preferences - Contacts
If you wish to set up contact sharing after initial set up, you can navigate to Settings > Preferences > Privacy and Permissions, then enable permissions for Contacts by toggling the switch
Now you are ready to start using Aircall on your Android device! 🎉
Bluetooth Permissions
If you wish to use a Bluetooth device with the App, you will also need to provide Aircall with Bluetooth access on your device.
If Bluetooth permissions are not allowed, you’ll be asked to give this permission when trying to connect to a bluetooth device during a call.
