In some cases, Windows Defender Firewall can incorrectly block Aircall, which may prevent you from making or receiving calls. The recommended approach is to allow Aircall through the firewall by creating a secure exception, rather than disabling the firewall entirely.

Important: You must have administrator rights on your Windows device to change firewall settings. If you do not have these permissions, contact your IT administrator.

Recommended solution: allow Aircall through Windows Defender Firewall

Steps:

  1. Open Windows Defender Firewall
    1. Click the Start button, or press Windows key + S.
    2. Type Windows Defender Firewall.
    3. Click Windows Defender Firewall in the results.
    4. In the left sidebar, click Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall.
  1. Add Aircall to the allowed apps list
    1. Click Change settings. You may be prompted to enter an administrator password.
    2. Scroll through the list of applications and look for Aircall.
  1. Configure Aircall access
    • If Aircall is already listed:
      • Select the checkbox to the left of Aircall.
    • If Aircall is not listed:
      1. Click Allow another app….
      2. Click Browse… and locate the Aircall application file. The default path is:
        • C:\Program Files\Aircall\Aircall.exe
      3. Select the file and click Add.
  2. Select network profiles
    • Ensure the appropriate network profile checkboxes are selected for Aircall, such as Private and or Public, depending on your environment.
  3. Click OK to save your changes.

Troubleshooting and diagnostics: temporary firewall disabling

If Aircall has been allowed through the firewall and connection issues persist, your IT administrator may temporarily disable Windows Defender Firewall for diagnostic purposes. This should never be used as a permanent solution.

Steps:

  1. Click the Start button, or press Windows key + S, and type Windows Security.
  1. Open the Windows Security app.
  1. Click Firewall & network protection.
  1. Select the active network profile, such as Private network or Public network.
  1. Under Windows Defender Firewall, toggle the switch to Off.
Important: If disabling the firewall resolves the issue, immediately re-enable it. Then investigate other potential network restrictions, such as antivirus software or network router settings, that may be blocking Aircall.

Disabling the firewall should only be used to confirm the source of the issue and must be reversed as soon as testing is complete.
