Aircall offers an .msi file for Windows and .pkg file for Mac users, which allows IT administrators to take control of the current installed version for all agents.
What are the benefits of using an .msi/.pkg file?
Using an .msi/.pkg file is a good solution for companies using Windows or Mac environments where employees are not allowed to install programs/applications themselves.
The .msi /.pkg file enables you to know which version of the application each agent is currently working with, to easily upgrade the version whenever you want, making it available to all agents in your organization.
If you use the MDM software system, which enables you to automatically manage version updates on all users' devices, agents don't need to take any manual action. If this is not the case, each agent should first uninstall the obsolete version of Aircall, then install the new version to get the upgrade.
What is important to know?
.msi /.pkg file updates are only rolled out for changes related to users' operating system (eg.: device support, notification system, etc...). For those formats, users are not informed of any software updates. If an application update is needed, they are available on Aircall website.
⚠️ Please note: to receive automatic version updates, please use the standard .exe (Windows) / .dmg (MacOS) installer.
Users still benefit from real-time web releases (eg.: functional enhancements). They are automatically available when a user reloads the application, for all format installers.
