This article explains how to submit a number porting request for German numbers directly from the Aircall Dashboard. The process is self-service and completed in a few steps.
What is number porting?
Number porting allows you to transfer your existing phone numbers from another carrier to Aircall without changing the numbers. Your team and customers continue using the same numbers while benefiting from Aircall features.
Availability
Self-service porting in the Aircall Dashboard is available for German numbers, covering:
- Geographic local numbers
- National numbers
- Toll-free numbers
To review the guidelines for other countries with self-service porting, please visit our Number porting section.
If you need to port numbers from a country without self-service number porting, contact Aircall Support and Aircall will manage the process. You can review the requirements in Number porting requirements by country.
Before you start
Preparing accurate information is essential. Missing or incorrect details are the most common cause of delays or rejections.
Porting German geographic local numbers requires a validated KYC (Know Your Customer) verification. The expected timeline is 20 days, and there are no selectable porting time slots for Germany.

Submit a porting request via the Aircall Dashboard
Step 1: Numbers to port
- Go to Aircall Dashboard > Numbers > Porting requests.
- Click Port a number. Review the intro modal, then click Start porting request.
- Select Germany as the Country.
- Enter your current carrier, the provider you are leaving. If your current carrier is a VoIP service, ask them for the true underlying carrier or owner of the number(s).
- Enter the numbers to port in E.164 format, one per line. Separate numbers with a comma, or use Upload via CSV. All numbers must share the same country code (500-character limit on the text field).
- Choose a preferred porting date. Aircall will do its best to accommodate it, but the final date is set through coordination between your current provider and Aircall's carrier.
- Click Next.
Note: German porting requests have a minimum lead time of 20 days, and there are no selectable porting time slots.
Step 2: Account details
- Optionally select the Pporting type: pure porting, or porting with cancellation when the contract with your current carrier is cancelled as part of the port.
- Enter the Legal company name, exactly as registered with your current (losing) provider.
- Enter the Authorised contact name.
- Enter the Account number if your provider requires it (it is mandatory for toll-free numbers).
- Optionally add the Security PIN if your carrier asks for one to authorise the port.
- Optionally upload a Customer Service Record (CSR). It is not mandatory for Germany, but it helps if your current carrier disputes ownership.
- For toll-free numbers, upload the Allocation certificate from BNetzA, the German number-allocation certificate issued by the Bundesnetzagentur. This is required to port toll-free numbers.
- Click Next.
Step 3: Service address
- Enter the service address associated with your current carrier. German addresses are entered as a street and a house number, not as a single address line.
- Confirm country, city, and postal code (5-digit German postal code, for example 10115).
- Upload a Recent Invoice Summary (RIS) from your current provider. This is required to complete the porting process. Optionally rename the uploaded document.
- Click Next.
Step 4: Authorization
- Review all the details you've entered: numbers to port, preferred porting date, current carrier, porting type, legal company name, authorised contact name, account number, service address, and the uploaded RIS.
- Under Letter of Authorization (LOA), sign the letter:
- Sign letter: review the document in the embedded signing flow and complete it.
- Send letter by email: enter the authorised signatory's email, they'll receive a link to sign.
- Once signed, you'll see a confirmation showing who signed and when.
- Check I confirm the information provided is accurate.
- Click Submit porting request.
Important: The LOA is a legal requirement. The request cannot be submitted without a signed LOA from an authorised representative.
After submission
Once submitted, you'll receive an email with confirmation that your request is being processed. Our carrier will then submit your request to your losing provider, and we'll inform you of any updates regarding acceptances or rejections through your Aircall Dashboard, which can be accessed directly via the email link.
Tracking your request
You can also track the progress of your request at any time in Aircall Dashboard > Numbers > Porting requests by simply clicking on your porting request.
Note: All required documents must be uploaded. Missing documents will prevent processing.
Porting Stages
| Stage | What happens |
|---|---|
| Request received | Aircall reviews your submission and signed LOA. |
| Submitted to carrier | Request is sent to your current provider for approval. |
| FOC date confirmed (Porting Scheduled) | A Firm Order Commitment date is scheduled and shared with you. The porting request is accepted and the numbers will be ported on this date. |
| Port completes | Numbers are transferred, with possible brief downtime. |
| Use your numbers | Assign numbers to users, IVRs, or call flows. |
Until completion, your numbers remain active with your current provider.
If your porting request is rejected
If your current provider rejects your request, a support ticket will be created on your behalf and we'll let you know the next steps. You can view that ticket from Aircall Dashboard > Numbers > Porting requests and click View ticket in the Support ticket column.
