This article explains how to submit a number porting request for Australian numbers directly from the Aircall Dashboard. The process is self-service and completed in a few steps. Porting an Australian number typically takes up to 6 weeks after your documentation is validated.
What is number porting?
Number porting allows you to transfer your existing phone numbers from another carrier to Aircall without changing the numbers. Your team and customers continue using the same numbers while benefiting from Aircall features.
Availability
Self-service porting in the Aircall Dashboard is available for Australian geographic (local), national, toll-free and mobile numbers.
Note: Self-service porting is also available for US, Canada, French, UK mobile and Spanish mobile numbers. See [Submitting a US or Canada porting request via the Aircall Dashboard](https://support.aircall.io/en-gb/articles/35215796339997), [How to submit a French number porting request in the Aircall Dashboard](https://support.aircall.io/en-gb/articles/38889018992413), [How to submit a Spanish number porting request in the Aircall Dashboard]([SPANISH_ARTICLE_URL]) and [How to submit a UK mobile number porting request in the Aircall Dashboard]([UK_ARTICLE_URL]).
Before you start
Preparing accurate information is essential. Missing or incorrect details are the most common cause of delays or rejections. For more about Australian porting categories (CAT A and CAT C) and the documents Aircall may request, see Number porting requirements by country.
Required information
| What you need | Details |
|---|---|
| Legal company name | Required. The exact registered legal entity name held by your current carrier. Do not use a trading name if it differs from the business account. |
| Authorised contact name | Required. The account holder or authorised representative the carrier may contact. |
| Account number | Required. The account number on your current carrier’s invoice. |
| ACN or ARBN | Optional. Australian Company Number or Australian Registered Body Number. Provide it if your carrier requires company registration matching. |
| Customer Service Record (CSR) | Optional. PDF, up to 3 MB. You can attach it as proof of service if the carrier asks. |
| Service address | Required. The address registered with your current carrier. |
| Recent Invoice Summary (RIS) | Required. PDF, up to 3 MB, from your current carrier. |
| Authorised signatory | The person who signs the Letter of Authorization (LOA). |
Important: Keep your numbers active with your current provider until the porting process is fully complete. Cancelling early may result in permanent loss of your numbers.
Submit a porting request via the Aircall Dashboard
Step 1: Numbers to port
- Go to Aircall Dashboard > Numbers > Porting requests.
- Click Port a number, then click Start porting request.
- Enter a porting request name you can easily find later in the Porting requests list, for example “Sydney office main line (Oct 2026)”.
- Select Australia as the Country. This locks the country for the whole request.
- Enter your current carrier, the provider you are leaving. Make sure it is correct, because selecting the wrong carrier causes validation to fail later.
- Enter the numbers to port in E.164 format, one per line, or upload a CSV file. All numbers must share the same country code.
- Click Validate. The dashboard checks whether the numbers can be ported. If any number cannot be ported, the request is blocked and you can download a CSV with the rejection reasons.
There is no preferred porting date for Australian numbers. The final date is set through coordination between your current provider and Aircall’s carrier.
Note: Country, carrier, and numbers cannot be changed after this step. To change them, discard the request and start a new one. If your request contains multiple number types, it is split automatically into separate requests, and the remaining types can be saved as drafts and resumed from the Porting requests list.
Step 2: Account details
- Enter the Legal company name, exactly as registered with your current carrier.
- Enter the Authorised contact name.
- Enter the Account number from your carrier’s invoice.
- Optionally add the ACN or ARBN.
- Optionally upload a Customer Service Record (CSR) (PDF, up to 3 MB).
- Click Next.
Step 3: Service address
- Enter the address (street number and name) registered with your current carrier. The country is pre-filled with Australia.
- Enter the city (suburb or city).
- Select the state or territory from the list.
- Enter the 4-digit postcode.
- Upload a Recent Invoice Summary (RIS) from your current carrier (PDF, up to 3 MB).
- Click Next.
Note: You can add the RIS later from the Porting requests page, but you cannot submit the request without it.
Step 4: Authorization
- Review all the details you have entered. The Submit porting request button stays disabled until the LOA is completed and the accuracy checkbox is checked.
- Under Letter of Authorization (LOA), sign the letter:
- Sign letter: enter the signer’s full name and email, then sign electronically.
- Send letter by email: the LOA is emailed to the recipient to sign outside the dashboard. Use this when the account holder is not the person using the dashboard.
- Check I confirm the information provided is accurate.
- Click Submit porting request.
Important: The LOA is a legal requirement. The request cannot be submitted without a signed LOA from an authorised representative.
Drafts
Your request is saved automatically as a draft as you progress. If you leave before submitting, you can resume it from Numbers > Porting requests.
After submission
Once submitted, you will receive an email confirming that your request is being processed. Our carrier will then submit your request to your current provider, and we will inform you of any updates regarding acceptances or rejections through your Aircall Dashboard.
Tracking your request
Track the progress of your request at any time in Aircall Dashboard > Numbers > Porting requests by clicking on your porting request.
Porting stages
| Stage | What happens |
|---|---|
| Request received | Aircall reviews your submission and signed LOA. |
| Submitted to carrier | Request is sent to your current provider for approval. |
| FOC date confirmed (Porting Scheduled) | A Firm Order Commitment date is scheduled and shared with you. The porting request is accepted and the numbers will be ported on this date. |
| Port completes | Numbers are transferred, with possible brief downtime. |
| Use your numbers | Assign numbers to users, IVRs, or call flows. |
Until completion, your numbers remain active with your current provider.
If your porting request is rejected
If your current provider rejects your request, a support ticket will be created on your behalf and we will let you know the next steps. You can view that ticket from Aircall Dashboard > Numbers > Porting requests by clicking View ticket in the Support ticket column.
