This article explains how to submit a number porting request for French numbers directly from the Aircall Dashboard. The process is self-service and completed in a few steps.

What is number porting?

Number porting allows you to transfer your existing phone numbers from another carrier to Aircall without changing the numbers. Your team and customers continue using the same numbers while benefiting from Aircall features.

Availability

Self-service porting in the Aircall Dashboard is available for French numbers, covering:

  • Geographic numbers
  • Mobile numbers
  • National numbers
Note: Self-service is also supported for US numbers. For more details, please see Submitting a US porting request via the Aircall Dashboard.

If you need to port numbers from another country, open a support ticket and Aircall will manage the process for you.

Geographic and national porting types

For geographic numbers, French regulation distinguishes four porting scenarios. Which one applies depends on which numbers, and how many, you're moving.

  • Portabilité for single lines with RIO code: a single line port with an associated RIO code.
  • Portabilité totale (full porting): all numbers on the installation, including the head number (NDI), move to Aircall.
  • Portabilité partielle simple (simple partial porting): only some numbers move; the head number (NDI) stays with your current carrier.
  • Portabilité partielle complexe (complex partial porting): you're porting the head number (NDI) itself while other numbers on the installation stay behind. This requires designating a substitution head number, a new head number for the numbers remaining with your current carrier.
Note: If you're unsure of your number configuration with your losing provider, verify with them before submitting your porting request.

Mobile numbers

Porting a mobile number always requires a RIO code (Relevé d'Identité Opérateur), obtained from your current carrier. There is no NDI-based alternative for mobile numbers, the RIO is mandatory for every mobile number in the request.

Before you start

Preparing accurate information is essential. Missing or incorrect details are the most common cause of delays or rejections.

Submit a porting request via the Aircall Dashboard

Step 1: Numbers to port

  1. Select France as the Country.
  2. Enter your current Carrier. If your current carrier is a VoIP service, ask them for the true underlying carrier or owner of the number(s).
  3. Enter the numbers to port, including the country code (for example, +33 1 23 45 67 89). Separate numbers with a comma, or use Upload via CSV. All numbers must share the same country code (500-character limit on the text field).

  1. Click Validate.

Note: Country, carrier, and numbers cannot be changed after this step. If your request contains multiple number types (for example, mobile and geographic), it will automatically be split by type. Each type is processed as a separate porting request, and any remaining numbers are saved as a new request in Draft for you to review and submit.
