This article explains how to submit a number porting request for United States numbers directly from the Aircall Dashboard. The process is self-service, completed in a few steps, and typically takes 10 to 15 business days once all information is validated.

What is number porting?

Number porting allows you to transfer your existing phone numbers from another carrier to Aircall without changing the numbers. Your team and customers continue using the same numbers while benefiting from Aircall features.

Availability

Self service porting in the dashboard is currently available for United States numbers only. If you need to port numbers from another country, open a support ticket and Aircall will manage the process. You can review requirements here: number porting requirements by country.

Before you start

Preparing accurate information is essential. Missing or incorrect details are the most common cause of delays or rejections.

Submit a porting request via the dashboard

Step 1: Initiate the request

  1. Go to Numbers > Porting requests in the Aircall Dashboard.
  2. Click Port a number.
  3. In the modal, click Start porting request.
Porting requests section

Step 2: Enter numbers to port

  1. Select United States.
  2. Enter your current carrier name. For VoIP providers, enter the underlying carrier.
  3. Enter each number you want to port, including the country code (for example, +1 415 555 0101). You can add multiple numbers in the same request if they're on the same carrier account. Enter numbers directly into the text box, comma or space separated, or upload a CSV file.
  4. Set Range to False unless the numbers belong to a sequential block.
  5. Choose a preferred porting date and time. We'll do our best to accommodate it, but it can't be guaranteed. The final porting date is set by coordination between your current provider and Aircall's carrier.
  6. Click Validate.

Note: Country, carrier, and numbers cannot be changed after this step. If your request contains multiple number types (e.g. toll-free and local), it will automatically be split by number type. Each type will be processed as a separate porting request, and any remaining numbers will be saved as a new request in Draft for you to review and submit.

Step 3: Provide account details

  1. Enter the Legal Company Name exactly as registered.
  2. Enter the Authorised Contact Name.
  3. Add the Account Number from your carrier.
  4. Optionally add a Security PIN.
    • Enable "Use PIN code for all numbers" if applicable.
Note: Each porting request supports a single PIN. If your numbers use different PINs, submit separate porting requests for each.
  1. Optionally upload a CSR (PDF, JPEG, or PNG, max 3MB).
  2. Click Next.

You can review the rejection reason, correct the request, and resubmit. A new LOA must be signed with the updated information.

In the Aircall Dashboard, hover over the status icon on the request to see the rejection reason. Click the Action required tag to reopen the form at the failed step and complete the remaining steps to resubmit.

If the rejection reason isn't clear, we'll open a support ticket on your behalf and let you know the next steps. You can view that ticket from the Dashboard at any time.

Important considerations

  • Numbers in a range or block must be ported together.
  • It is not possible to port a single number from a block.
  • Confirm with your current carrier whether your numbers are part of a range before submitting.
