When migrating to Aircall Workspace, some users notice that the legacy Aircall Phone application continues to launch when making or receiving calls, even after it has been uninstalled.
This article explains why this happens and how to resolve it.
Symptom
After uninstalling the legacy Aircall Phone application, it still opens automatically when attempting to make or receive calls.
Removing the application files alone does not stop this behavior.
Root cause
This usually occurs because the legacy phone application is still configured as the default app for certain system actions, such as handling call links.
As a result, Windows continues to route call actions to the old application.
Solution
Update your Windows default app settings so that Aircall Workspace is used for calls.
Steps:
- Open Settings on your Windows device.
- Go to Apps.
- Select Default apps.
- Review the default app associations related to calling or call links.
- Set Aircall Workspace as the default application for making and receiving calls.
Important: Once Aircall Workspace is set as the default app, Windows will no longer attempt to launch the legacy phone application.
After updating the default app settings, you should be able to fully remove the legacy application without it reopening when calls are placed or received.
