Overview
By default, inbound calls on SIP devices show the internal number associated with the SIP device user, because the call is considered a forwarded call. To have inbound calls show the original caller ID, you need to create an external forward so the Number displayed when ringing option becomes available, then select show external number.
Default behavior
For inbound calls on SIP devices, the shown number will be the internal number associated with the SIP device user, as it is considered a forwarded call.
Steps to show the original caller ID
- Go to Aircall Dashboard > Users and Teams > All users.
- Select the user.
- Go to the Call Preferences tab, find Forward call to an external number.
- Click Add a phone number and enter the mobile or landline number. This activates the Number displayed when ringing option.
- Select show external number.
Once selected, inbound calls will show the original caller ID on your SIP device.
