This article explains why a CSV file may not upload correctly to the Power Dialer and outlines the steps required to resolve common issues.
Symptom
When attempting to upload a contact list to the Power Dialer, the CSV file is not accepted and no action occurs after the upload attempt.
Cause
This issue can occur for several reasons:
- The CSV file exceeds the 1 MB size limit or contains more than 1,000 contacts.
- Phone numbers in the file are not formatted in E.164 format.
- The first column in the CSV file does not have a title.
- The CSV file is not encoded in UTF-8 format.
Solution
Follow the steps below to ensure your CSV file meets Power Dialer requirements.
Check file size and contact limit
- Confirm the file size is less than 1 MB.
- Make sure the file contains 1,000 contacts or fewer, including the header row.
Verify phone number format
- Ensure all phone numbers are in E.164 format, for example
+1234567890.
Add a column header
- Confirm that the first column, which contains the phone numbers, includes a column title.
Export the CSV in UTF-8 format
If you are using Microsoft Excel:
- Open your file in Excel.
- Select File > Save As.
- Choose CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited) (*.csv).
If you are using Google Sheets:
- Open your spreadsheet.
- Select File > Download > Comma-separated values (.csv, current sheet).
Upload the CSV file to Power Dialer
- Open the Power Dialer in the Aircall app.
- Click Create list.
- Drag and drop the CSV file, or select it from your computer to upload.
Tip: Ensure there are no empty rows or unsupported characters in your CSV file before uploading.
