When you subscribe to Aircall through self-subscription, you may notice two separate charges shortly after signing up. This article explains why this happens and what each charge represents.

Understanding the initial deposit

Shortly after subscribing, the first charge you see is an initial deposit and authorization check.

Purpose: This initial transaction serves two main functions:

  1. Payment method validation: It verifies that your payment method is valid and has sufficient funds for your subscription.
  2. Prompt service activation: It allows Aircall to activate your account immediately, without waiting for your first invoice to be issued.

Amount: The initial deposit typically reflects your plan’s subtotal before taxes or additional fees.

Note: The initial deposit acts as a security measure to ensure smooth activation of your Aircall service.

Understanding your first invoice

Within 2–3 business days of subscribing, Aircall issues your official first invoice.

What your invoice includes

Your first invoice provides a complete breakdown of your billing details:

  • The cost of your chosen Aircall plan
  • Any applicable service fees
  • Taxes based on your country of business registration

You will receive your invoice by email and can also download it directly from your Aircall Dashboard. For more details on taxes, refer to:

How the deposit is applied

The initial deposit you paid at the time of subscription is deducted from your first invoice total.
After this deduction, a second charge is processed for any remaining balance, which usually covers taxes and additional fees not included in the initial deposit.

Example of double charges

If you subscribe to the Essential monthly plan for 3 users (the minimum required) and 1 number (the first number is free), the following would apply:

  • Initial deposit: €120 (flat rate covering users and numbers)
  • Final invoice charge: €24 (20% VAT for France)

In this case, your account would show two separate charges: one for the flat rate and one for taxes.

Important: The two charges do not represent duplicate payments. The first is your deposit, and the second completes your total invoice by covering taxes or remaining fees.

Countries where taxes apply

Taxes are applied based on your country of registration. The following regions currently have tax requirements:

Tip: If you believe you were charged incorrectly, verify your invoice breakdown in the Aircall Dashboard or contact our Customer Support team for clarification.
