Aircall's native MMS feature is now available for US, Canada, and Australia numbers. MMS allows you to send and receive images and files for a richer, more effective messaging experience. It is designed to support seamless customer communication and accelerate pre sales opportunities.
Supported file formats
Aircall supports the following MMS file types:
- PNG
- JPEG
- GIF
File size limits
Size limits vary by carrier. In most cases:
- Images can be up to 5 MB
- PDFs can be up to 600 KB
Attachment limits
You can send or receive up to 10 attachments per message, for both inbound and outbound MMS. Incoming messages that exceed carrier limits are handled directly by the carrier based on their constraints.

MMS is available across:
- Desktop and Web applications
- iOS
- Android
Integration support
MMS is supported in HubSpot and Salesforce (excluding Sales Engagement). For details, see: Using MMS with Integrations.

Receiving MMS messages
Notifications and list view
When you receive an MMS, you can enable system push notifications to be alerted. The notification preview may show:
- Attachment(s) if supported media are received
- Unsupported content if all media are incompatible
- Text extract if the MMS includes text
You can open the message directly from the notification or navigate to the Messaging tab. New MMS messages are indicated in the counter below the list.
Preview and download
Preview
In the detail view, you can preview up to 4 media files. If more files were received, a counter shows the remaining number. If the sender included text, it appears alongside the media preview.
Download
You can download any number of attachments with a single click.
During bulk downloads, a progress indicator shows the remaining time. When complete, a confirmation message appears and the files will be available in your system’s downloads folder.
Note: User experience on mobile may vary slightly. For example, the attachment gallery opens after tapping a media file and users can swipe to browse attachments. Content limitation warnings also require a tap to view details.
Select an MMS capable line
Choose a phone number with the SMS MMS badge. MMS is available only for numbers in the US, Canada, and Australia, so the recipient must be located in one of these countries.
Add attachments
Steps:
- Select the MMS capable line and choose the contact.
- Click the clip button at the bottom of the phone window.
- Attach one or more files. Thumbnails will appear with the message total computed attachments size / maximum accepted size.
- Remove attachments if necessary using the X on each thumbnail.
- Optional: Add text to accompany your media.
MMS errors and limitations
If an attachment violates MMS rules, an error message appears and only the problematic file is removed. When uploading multiple attachments, valid files remain.
Possible upload errors include:
-
More than 10 attachments
“You can only upload up to 10 files. Please remove some files and try again” -
File too large
“Your file size exceeds the limit of <->. Please reduce the file size and try again”
“Your total file size exceeds the limit of <>. Please reduce the file size and try again” -
Unsupported file format
“Only pdf, jpg, jpeg, png, or gif files are allowed for MMS” -
Unknown upload error
“Sorry, the problem has occurred. Please try again later”
If this happens, retry later or contact your administrator.
Content limitations
If any file is too large or uses an unsupported format, you will not be able to view or download it. You will see a visual alert next to the message bubble. Hovering displays: "Some media cannot be received due to unsupported format."
If none of the attachments comply, the media preview will be empty.
Sending and drafts
When you are ready, click Send. Delivery works similarly to SMS:
- Delivered appears when the MMS reaches the recipient.
- Not sent appears if delivery fails.
If you leave the Messages view before sending, the message is saved as a draft for the current session.
Note:
• Mobile devices may behave differently.
• If media delivery fails, the error appears but the draft message is not saved.
• On Android, valid attachments send while invalid ones are skipped.
• On iOS, if any attachment is invalid, none will be sent.
Storage constraints
Media files may expire after a period defined by your company's configuration. The default retention period is typically 6 months.
If a file is expired or otherwise unavailable, clicking Download will return the error: "Some media is unavailable due to an error". The download cannot proceed.
