To use your microphone with desktop applications such as Aircall, Windows must be allowed to access your microphone and permission must be granted to the specific app. Follow the instructions below based on your version of Windows.

Open microphone settings

  1. Open the Settings app using one of the following methods:
    • Press Windows key + I.
    • Click the Start button and select the gear icon.
    • Right-click the Start button and choose Settings.
  2. Click Privacy & security.
  3. Under App permissions, select Microphone.

Enable microphone access

Turn on Let desktop apps access your microphone. Settings are saved automatically.

Tip: If your app, such as Aircall, does not appear in the list, open the app first and then return to the Microphone settings page.

Windows 10

Open microphone settings

  1. Open the Settings app using one of the following methods:
    • Press Windows key + I.
    • Click the Start button and select the gear icon.
    • Right-click the Start button and choose Settings.
  2. Click Privacy.
  3. Select Microphone from the left-hand menu.

Enable microphone access

  1. Turn on Allow apps to access your microphone.

  1. Turn on the toggle for Aircall, or any other app you need to use.

Troubleshooting tips

If your microphone is still not working, try the following:

  • Make sure the correct microphone is selected inside your app.
  • Check whether your headset or webcam has a physical mute switch enabled.
  • Restart the app after updating permissions.
  • Restart your computer if the changes do not take effect.
