Aircall provides MSI files for Windows and PKG files for macOS. These installers are designed for IT administrators who need to control application versions across their organization.

This article explains the benefits, limitations, and how to download these installer formats.

Benefits of using an MSI or PKG installer

Using an MSI or PKG installer is recommended in managed IT environments where employees are not permitted to install applications themselves.

These installers allow administrators to:

  • Control which Aircall version is installed across all agents.
  • Track the application version used by each agent.
  • Roll out upgrades in a controlled and centralized manner.
  • Deploy updates using MDM tools without requiring user action.

If you use an MDM solution to manage application updates, upgrades can be deployed automatically across all devices.

Note: If you do not use an MDM solution, agents must uninstall the existing version of Aircall before installing a newer MSI or PKG version.

Important considerations

MSI and PKG installers have specific update behaviors that differ from standard installers.

Update scope

Updates for MSI and PKG installers are released only for changes related to the operating system, such as:

  • Device compatibility
  • Notification system updates
  • OS-level improvements

Users are not notified in-app when a new MSI or PKG version is available.

Functional updates

All users, regardless of installer type, continue to receive real-time web updates, such as functional enhancements and UI changes. These updates are applied automatically when the application is reloaded.

Important: To receive automatic application version updates, use the standard EXE installer for Windows or DMG installer for macOS.

How to download the MSI or PKG installer

You can download the MSI and PKG installers directly from the Aircall website.

Steps

  1. Go to aircall.io/download.
  2. Select the appropriate installer for your operating system.
  3. Deploy the installer using your preferred IT or MDM tools.

These installers give administrators greater control over application versions while maintaining access to Aircall’s latest functional improvements.
