When using Aircall through a computer telephony integration embedded in a web application such as Salesforce, you must allow microphone access at three different levels: your operating system, the Chrome browser, and the specific integration website. All three are required for audio to work correctly.

Operating system permissions

Your operating system must allow the Chrome application to access the microphone.

macOS

Steps:

  1. Open System Settings or System Preferences on older macOS versions.
  2. Click Privacy & Security.
  3. Select Microphone.
  4. Locate Google Chrome in the application list.
  5. Toggle the switch on to grant access.
Important: After changing macOS permissions, Chrome may prompt you to restart. Select Quit & Reopen.
If no prompt appears, fully close and relaunch Chrome to apply the changes.

Windows

Steps:

  1. Open Settings using the Windows key + I.
  2. Click Privacy & Security.
  3. Under App permissions, select Microphone.
  4. Ensure Let desktop apps access your microphone is set to On.

Chrome browser global settings

These settings ensure Chrome is allowed to request microphone access.

Steps:

  1. In Chrome, enter chrome://settings/content/microphone in the address bar and press Enter.
Alternatively, go to Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Microphone.
  2. Confirm Sites can ask to use your microphone is enabled.
  3. Check that your integration partner domain, such as Salesforce or HubSpot, is not listed under Blocked.

Specific site permissions for the CTI

Each integration website must be explicitly allowed to use the microphone.

Method 1: First use pop up

  1. Load the web page where the Aircall CTI is embedded.
  2. When Chrome displays a pop up stating that the integration partner wants to use your microphone, select Allow.

Method 2: Manual adjustment using the padlock icon

  1. Open the web page containing the Aircall CTI.
  2. Click the Padlock icon on the left side of the address bar.
Chrome site settings showing microphone access enabled for the current website.
  1. Locate the Microphone permission.
  2. Set it to Allow using the toggle or dropdown menu.

  1. Refresh the page to apply the new permission if needed.
Note: Microphone access will not work unless permissions are granted at the operating system, Chrome browser, and site levels.
