This article explains how to download a report of your SMS messages and segments directly from the Aircall dashboard. These reports help you monitor your messaging activity and understand how SMS usage affects your billing.
Download your SMS report
Follow these steps to download a report of your outbound SMS messages:
Steps:
- Navigate to the Overview section of your Aircall Dashboard
- Select your desired date range, then click update in the upper-right corner
- Scroll down to the messages section
- Click on the number displayed in the outbound SMS box (a preview table will appear)
Note: Inbound SMS messages are free of charge.
- Click download in the top-right corner of the table (a pop-up window will appear)
- Select your preferred file format (CSV, Excel, etc.)
- Expand the advanced data options dropdown
- Set number of rows to include to all results
- Click download to save the file
Your download will include key details such as:
- Date and time of the message
- Number of segments
- The Aircall number used
- Destination number
- Status and direction (e.g., outbound)
Download your SMS segments report
Aircall billing is based on segments, not individual messages. If you need a report showing the total number of segments sent, follow the same process as above, but in Step 4, click the number in the Outbound SMS segments box instead of the Outbound SMS box. This will provide a segment-level breakdown for billing purposes.
Note: What is a segment? A segment is a portion of a message determined by its length and character encoding. Longer messages are split into multiple segments. SMS charges are based on the number of segments sent.
Understand your report and billing
Aircall calculates SMS charges based on the total number of segments sent, not the number of individual messages. Reviewing your segment report is the best way to understand your monthly usage and associated costs.
