Sometimes you may need to remove a single component from your call distribution flow. However, deleting a component can also remove all steps that follow it. This article explains why this happens and how to safely delete one component without losing downstream steps.
Symptom
When deleting a component in the call distribution flow, all subsequent components connected to it are also removed.
Cause
Aircall’s call distribution flow is designed as a linear sequence. Each component depends on the one before it. When a component is deleted, all steps that follow it are treated as dependent and are therefore removed.
Solution
To delete an individual component without removing subsequent steps, follow the steps below.
Steps:
- Go to Aircall Dashboard > Numbers.
- Open the Number you want to configure and go to the Call Distribution tab.
- Identify the component you want to delete. In the example, a Date Rule widget is used.
- Before deleting the Date Rule widget, copy and paste the steps located above it to a safe position that will not be affected.
- Click the step you want to copy, for example Time Rule.
- Select the option to copy the step.
- Paste the step above the Date Rule widget.
- After the step is successfully duplicated, delete the Date Rule widget at the end of the call distribution.
- Continue any additional configuration as needed.
Tip: Duplicating steps before deleting ensures the flow remains intact and prevents accidental loss of routing logic.
