As required under the Telecommunications Act 1997, Aircall must provide the Integrated Public Number Database (IPND) with details of all Australian public phone numbers and their associated customer information.

What is the IPND?

The Integrated Public Number Database (IPND) is a central repository managed by Telstra under the authority of the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). It contains key information related to public telephone services in Australia, including:

  • Australian phone numbers
  • Customer names
  • Customer addresses
  • User type (for example, individual or business)
Important: The IPND only accepts a *physical address* of a building or facility such as a dwelling, office, marina, or industrial site. Post Boxes (P.O. Boxes) and Roadside Mail Boxes are not supported.

IPND functioning and safeguards

Access to the IPND is tightly controlled to protect customer information. Only specific organizations and entities are permitted to access the data for legitimate purposes.

Authorized access is limited to:

  • Emergency Services
  • National Security and Law Enforcement agencies
  • Directory Enquiry services
  • Approved Research organizations

Entities in the Research and Directory categories must apply for authorization before accessing IPND information.

Note: Telstra acts as the IPND Manager under appointment from the ACMA.
