Aircall is designed for optimal call quality, functionality, and ease of use through our applications rather than physical phones. However, it is possible to use SIP devices with Aircall if needed.

Important limitations when using SIP devices

Using SIP devices is not the intended use case for Aircall. When using a SIP device with Aircall, you will NOT have the ability to:

  • Transfer calls
  • Place calls on hold
  • Use feature keys
  • Receive DSS/BLF notifications
  • Receive voicemail notifications

If you are comfortable with these limitations and still want to proceed, you can request access to SIP device permissions.

Requesting SIP device permissions

To start using a SIP device with Aircall:

  1. Contact your Aircall Account Manager.
  2. Request that SIP phone/device permissions be enabled for your account.

Once this feature is active, you will be able to generate the SIP credentials needed to configure your device.

Activating SIP credentials in the Aircall Dashboard

After SIP device permissions have been enabled on your account, you can generate credentials from the Dashboard.

Steps: Generate SIP credentials

  1. Go to Aircall Dashboard > Users > All users.
  2. Open Call Preferences for the relevant user.
  3. Locate the section Forward calls to a SIP device.
  4. Click Generate SIP Credentials to create the credentials needed to activate your SIP device on Aircall.

Assigning a default line for outgoing calls

To make outbound calls from your SIP device through Aircall, you need to assign a default number.

Steps: Set a default line for SIP outbound calls

  1. Go to Aircall Dashboard > Users > All users.
  2. Click on the Numbers & Teams tab for the relevant user.
  3. In the Associated Numbers section, click on the three dots menu for the desired number and select Set as default number

Selecting a default number assigns the default line that the SIP phone will use when making outgoing calls.

Important: If a default number is not selected in the Associated Numbers section, you will not be able to make outgoing calls from the SIP device.

Support for SIP devices

Important: Aircall does not offer Support or direct assistance with setting up a SIP phone/device.

You will need to manage the SIP device configuration on your side, using the credentials and settings provided in the Dashboard.
