There may be times when you experience issues with your headset while using Aircall. You might not hear the other person, the other person might not hear you, there may be no sound at all from your device, or you might notice too much background noise or feedback.

These issues can interrupt communication and slow down your workflow. Fortunately, there are several ways to troubleshoot and improve your audio experience in Aircall.

Here are our top tips to troubleshoot audio issues while using Aircall.

Using a Mac (with macOS X)

On Mac, we strongly recommend using a mini-jack headset, as it is automatically recognized by the system. Most USB headsets will also work, as long as they are properly configured in your Mac sound settings.

Steps:

  1. Click the Apple icon on the left side of your top bar.

  2. Open System Preferences.

  3. Go to the Sound section.

  4. Select your headset for both sound output and sound input.

  5. After selecting your headset, quit and relaunch the Aircall app.

Important: If you are using USB headsets on Mac, you will have to follow the steps above every time you unplug and replug your headset, or relaunch your session.

If you have recently updated your Mac, please make sure to allow the microphone to access Google Chrome in the Security & Privacy settings of your computer.

Note: On macOS devices, the yellow Mic Mode indicator in the toolbar does not indicate that Aircall is recording.
This is a macOS feature that shows your microphone is in use by an application on your device and it cannot be disabled.

If you are using a PC (with Windows)

On Windows, we strongly recommend using a USB headset, as it is more likely to be recognized by your system. However, both USB and mini-jack headsets are considered external devices and require the correct drivers and configuration in Windows.

Make sure your headset is connected to your computer before you launch Google Chrome to avoid loss of connectivity. Then verify that Windows can recognize the device.

Steps:

  1. Open the system search and type manage audio devices.

  2. Select the corresponding option from the list of results.

  3. On the Playback tab, select the device you want to use from the list.
