Symptom
Calls to Hong Kong numbers are appearing as "anonymous" when being received by callees.
Cause
The design of the PSTN (traditional telephony networks) to VoIP interconnection prevents calling line identification (CLI) translation on international calls. This means that all international calls to Hong Kong numbers will appear as coming from "anonymous," with the caller's actual number not being shown as it is not preserved.
Solution
To ensure callees in Hong Kong are able to see users' numbers, ensure calls made to Hong Kong are done via an Aircall Hong Kong number.
⚠️ Please note that users may need to reach out to Aircall's Porting Team to purchase Hong Kong numbers.
