Requirement
An agent needs to be able to send SMS/MMS messages from an Aircall number, but should not receive calls on that number.
Issue
Agents must be assigned to the call distribution of a number in order to send/receive SMS/MMS. If a user is added to Outgoing calls only, and is not included in the call flow as well, they will be unable to use Aircall's SMS feature for that number.
Solution
As a workaround to this, users with Dashboard access can assign agents that need to use SMS, but not receive calls, to a Smartflow number after the Voicemail Widget. After a caller has reached the voicemail of a Smarflows number, the call will disconnect, meaning that any agents or teams added after this widget will be considered assigned to the call distribution, but will never receive calls on the number.
⚠️ Please note: users assign to a number in this way will see missed call notifications and voicemails in the Aircall application.
⚠️ Please note: while agents assigned only as Outgoing calls only users will not be able to use SMS, any users assigned to Outgoing calls only and also included in the call distribution will be able to use SMS, and will receive calls as set in the call flow.
